Our Story: A Project Born from a Love for Alghero

Alghero Vacation Rentals was created by people who genuinely love their city and wanted to offer something different from the usual anonymous holiday rentals. Over the years, we met many visitors searching for:

Meet the Team Behind Alghero Vacation Rentals

A great holiday experience isn’t created by chance – it’s created by people. Here is the team that makes everything possible.

 

Gianfranco – Owner & Founder

Gianfranco is the heart and driving force behind Alghero Vacation Rentals. His journey into hospitality began back in 2016, when he was working as a carpenter, crafting and repairing furniture with precision and care. This background sharpened his eye for quality, comfort, and practical design – foundations that later became essential for managing high-standard holiday apartments.

During that time, while playing football in Alghero, a teammate once asked Gianfranco to craft a small welcome sign for a holiday apartment – something simple but meaningful for arriving guests.

As he worked on it, something clicked: What if he could offer visitors not just a welcome sign, but a full, warm, local experience? What if he could help them find the perfect accommodation and be there to support them throughout their stay in Alghero? That moment planted the seed for what would eventually become Alghero Vacation Rentals.Not long after, Gianfranco took his first step by managing his very first apartment – Clara – which we are proud to still rent today.

From that point on, the project continued to grow with great success. What started with a single apartment has evolved into a solid, expanding network of over 200 properties across Sardinia, including:

Alessandra – Sales & Bookings Manager

Alessandra joined Alghero Vacation Rentals in November 2024, bringing with her a rich background in hospitality and a natural talent for connecting with guests.

Before moving to Sardinia, she worked in Valle d’Aosta as a Sales Manager responsible for 110 apartments, handling reservations, revenue strategies, and guest communication in one of Italy’s most sought-after mountain destinations.

But life in the mountains, although beautiful, came with a growing desire for something different – a calmer rhythm, the sound of the sea, and a lifestyle inspired by sunlight rather than snow.

Guided by this feeling, she made the decision to transfer to Alghero, where she could combine her professional experience with a more peaceful, coastal way of living.

Today, Alessandra is our superhero of sales and revenue.

She is the first point of contact for most of our guests – the friendly and reassuring voice behind every message, enquiry, or booking.

She responds to guest messages, manages communication, takes care of reviews, and ensures that each traveller feels supported from the very first interaction.

And yes – she’s also our Spotify queen, setting the perfect playlist for every office mood.

What she does:

Laura – Customer Service & Guest Relations Expert

Laura joined Alghero Vacation Rentals in June 2025, right when we needed her the most – in the middle of the high summer season, when guests arrive nonstop and every detail counts.

From day one, she brought calm, structure, and incredible organisational skills to the team. Laura is our receptionist and guest relations expert, staying in direct contact with all our guests before and during their stay. She makes sure everyone has the right information, feels supported, and can enjoy Alghero without any stress.

On top of that, Laura is the creative mind behind our travel guides for guests, giving them insider tips, directions, and all the details they need to explore the city like a local. And then there’s her secret superpower – she’s our puppet master – because she knows exactly who needs to be where, at what time, and how all the moving pieces fit together. Every check-in, check-out, and schedule runs perfectly thanks to her masterful coordination.

What she does:

  • Shares essential information clearly and personally
  • Organises check-ins, check-outs, and team schedules
  • Ensures seamless operations and guest satisfaction

 

Cristina – Check-In & Check-Out Coordinator

Cristina joined Alghero Vacation Rentals in June 2025, just as summer was in full swing and the apartments were filling up fast. Born and raised in Alghero, she knows every corner of the city and the surrounding area, making her the perfect guide for our guests.

Cristina manages check-ins and check-outs, welcoming guests with a warm smile, handing over keys, and showing them not just their apartment, but every little detail that makes it feel like home. From hidden electricity cables to secret storage nooks, she knows every corner of each property.

She also has an eye for adventure: Cristina is responsible for finding new activity suppliers and creating exciting experiences for our guests, making sure every stay in Alghero offers something fun and memorable.

Cristina knows the fastest routes through the city like no one else – whether it’s by car, scooter, or bike – whether she’s rushing from one apartment to another or guiding guests to nearby beaches, she ensures everything runs smoothly and on time.Thanks to her local knowledge, Cristina also shares insider tips about the neighborhood the best cafes, shops, beaches, and hidden gems that only a true local would know.

What she does:

Marianna – Check-In & Check-Out Coordinator

Marianna is the newest member of the Alghero Vacation Rentals team, joining in November 2025.

She moved to Sardinia from Switzerland in June 2025, after falling in love with Alghero and deciding there was no more beautiful place to call home. In Switzerland, she worked in luxury hospitality and hotels and is also a professional events manager, giving her a sharp eye for detail and a deep understanding of what makes a guest experience exceptional.

Marianna works closely with Cristina, handling check-ins and check-outs, welcoming guests, handing over keys, and showing them the apartment and its surroundings. She loves sharing her passion for Alghero and helping every guest feel at home.Her language skills are a big asset for the team: Marianna is fluent in English, Slovak, and Czech, ensuring international guests feel welcome and well-supported from the very first interaction.

What she does:

  • Handles check-ins and check-outs with a friendly, professional approach
  • Welcomes guests and introduces them to their apartment and neighborhood
